May - MMSA General Meeting

 

 

2011 General Meeting will be held in New Orleans, LA.

2011 Milton Huppert Graduate Student Award

 

Selection Criteria:

1)      Awarded to an outstanding graduate student in the field of Medical Mycology that will be attending the ASM meeting (no travel support provided)? 

2)      Nominations may come from the graduate student's advisor or other interested faculty that are active members of MMSA.

3)      Nominations should include a letter, a copy of the student's curriculum vitae, a description of the student's research accomplishments, and a copy of the ASM abstract if presenting (not required). 

4)      The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 4, 2011.

2011 Carlyn Halde Latin American Student Travel Award

 

Selection Criteria:

1)       All student presenters, from Latin America, Puerto Rico or the Caribbean, who have a Division C or F abstract in the area of medical mycology accepted to the ASM General Meeting will automatically be considered for the grant; no application is necessary.

2)       The awardee will be selected based on the quality of the abstract.

3)       The awardee will be a student medical microbiologist from Latin America, Puerto Rico or the Caribbean.

4)       The award is open to both members and non-members of ASM and MMSA, though preference will be given to members of ASM and MMSA.

2011 IMMY/MMSA Student Travel Award

 

Selection Criteria:

1)      Awarded to four outstanding graduate students in the field of Medical Mycology that will be presenting a poster at the ASM meeting?

2)      Recipient cannot receive Milton Huppert Graduate Student or ASM travel Awards as well.

3)      Awardees are chosen from abstracts submitted to Division F of ASM.

4)      The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 4, 2011.

2011 Rhoda Benham Award

 

1)      The Award shall be presented to an individual from the Americas for continuous outstanding or meritorious contributions to medical mycology.

2)      The recommendation of a nominee by an active regular member must be made in writing and should consist of a description of the nominee contributions, the reasons why these should be considered worthy of special recognition, a brief biographical sketch of the nominee, a list of publications, and any other supporting documents considered relevant.

                                                              i.      The recommendation of a nominee must be supported by letters of seconding the nomination from other active members.

                                                            ii.      The nomination may be not be made posthumously except in the following condition.  If the Committee has selected a recipient and if the recipient should be deceased thereafter the Award must be made posthumously.

2011 Billy Cooper Award

 

Selection Criteria:

1)      The Billy Cooper Award is in recognition of significant achievement in clinical mycology. 

2)      The recipient must be currently actively engaged in clinical mycology and must be a member of the MMSA at the time of nomination and presentation.

3)      Nomination for the award must be accompanied by a full statement of the nominee’s merit and must be submitted to the chairperson of the Award Committee.

4)      The recommendation of a nominee must be supported by letters of seconding the nomination from other active members.

5)      The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 4, 2011.
