Founded over 30 years ago, IMMY is an Oklahoma-based organization focused on creating worldwide solutions for affordable fungal diagnostics.  The company’s most recent endeavors center on producing diagnostics that meet the World Health Organization’s A.S.S.U.R.E.D. criteria (Affordable, Sensitive/Specific, User-friendly, Rapid/Robust, Equipment-free, Delivered to those who need it).  IMMY truly has a global impact with distribution of its products throughout 50 countries in six continents.

The founder of IMMY, Dr. Stan Bauman, first developed a relationship with MMSA decades ago, and was an active member of the organization.  He has since retired, but the relationship with MMSA has continued through his son, Dr. Sean Bauman who is now the President and CEO of IMMY.  For the past few years IMMY has sponsored the MMSA Travel Awards, which give four outstanding graduate students the opportunity to personally present their research before the scientific community at the American Society of Microbiology General Meeting.

Below are photos of last year’s MMSA Travel Award winners.  To the left of the students is Dr. Sean Bauman, and to the right is Dr. Paul Fidel, committee chair of the MMSA Travel Award.
